During the 1800s, our building housed the local leather tanner, hence the name. We’d love to think that his leatherwork was as good as our fine cuisine is now but the fact is, we don’t know much about him. We’re trying to uncover more of the history of the building so if you know more than us, pop in and discuss it over a drink on us!
Cuisine
Our head chef, Steve Cockburn, is Savoy-trained and has worked with many fine dining establishments throughout the UK, notably the renowned Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds, and has also overseen all catering at Castle Howard. His experience and that of his team in the kitchen, combined with the very best local produce, provides an exquisite dining experience in our very comfortable restaurant, whether it be a light lunch or a long, relaxed dinner.
Sunday Lunch
Our Traditional Sunday lunch, served throughout the day, has become something of a local institution for our regulars. It’s especially popular with families who come to savour, not only our food, but our atmosphere too. With Local friendly staff at your service.
Private Dining
Whether it be an intimate dinner for ten of your closest friends and family or a celebration for fifty of your esteemed colleagues, your private dining experience will be an occasion they will always remember. Our head chef will prepare your sumptuous feast to your exact requirements and the event will be personally supervised by our restaurant director.
Drinks
Enjoy drinks in our contemporary bar or the adjacent outside terrace, including a selection of fine, local ales. Our restaurant director, Jean-Marc Troit, personally selects all our wine and will be delighted to discuss these with you to ensure your wine perfectly complements your dining experience.
